Good Morning Life,

Had a great cup of coffee and a bowl of cereal. Ideal start to this Sunday morning.

Lots of work to do today. But before I delve into the chaos, thought i’d chat with you a little. Was reading an article on the entropy of the mind. Interesting.

Laws of thermodynamics do apply to the mind too!

Stillness is something that’s so easy to come by sometimes…. but sometimes …

How many hours of sleep do we need? Is there really a number or a range? Need to learn touch-typing …..

With this new set of responsibilities, managing time is now an indispensable skill…..

Well let’s get started then. Talk to you later.

Peace.

The sun distresses you like a crowd, a noisy, invasive crowd that makes you cup your ears, that makes you close your eyes, that makes you want to hide. The moon distresses you by silently reminding you of your solitude; you open your eyes wide to escape the lonliness. When you look up, you sometimes wonder if at the centre of a solar system, if in the middle of the Sea of Tranquility, there isn’t another one like you also looking up, also trapped by geometry, also struggling with fear, rage, madness, hopelessness, apathy. – Life of Pi

Life on a lifeboat isn’t much of a life. It is like the end game in chess, a game with few pieces. The elements couldn’t be more simple, nor the stakes higher. Physically it is extraordinarily arduous, and morally it is killing. You must make adjustments if you want to survive. Much becomes expendable. You get your happiness where you can. You reach a point where you are at the bottom of hell, yet you can have your arms crossed and a smile on your face, and feel you’re the luckiest person on earth. Why? Because at your feet you have a tiny dead fish. – Life of Pi (Pi , while ruminating over the power of the elements on him, and his moods oscillating between boredom and terror.)

They claim a hidden corner of our hearts, all those moments that they stayed with us unscreamed. That’s where loves, like elephants, drag themselves to die. It’s the place where pride allows itself to cry. And in those sleep-lonely nights and think-rambled days, Modena’s face was always there, staring at the door.
-Lin, in ‘Shantaram’

The tears, when they come to some men, are worse than beatings. They are wounded worse by sobbing, men like that, than they are by boots and batons. Tears begin in the heart, but some of us deny the heart so often, that when it speaks to us, we hear not one but a hundred sorrows in the heartbreak. We know that crying is a good and natural thing. We know that crying isn’t a weakness, but a strength. Still the weeping rips us root by tangled root from the earth, and we crash like fallen trees when we cry.

There have always been people accusing us of being fraudulent criminals, of the I.P.C.C. being corrupt,” Dr. Schmidt said. “What is new is this paranoia combined with a spell of cold weather in the United States and the ‘climategate’ release. It’s a perfect storm that has allowed the nutters to control the agenda.”

The answer is simple, he said.

“Good science,” he said, “is the best revenge.”

“Integrity, as cynics say, does not put bread on the table. But people who are drawn into a movement generally find that stockpiling bread on the table is not a major issue in their lives, not because they have all the bread they want, but because they have a more basic hunger. They understand that human beings do not live by bread alone.”
- Parker Palmer, The Courage to Teach
